PRAYER DIARY 2018

Theme: Let Your Will Be Done ( Matthew 6:10)

Prayer Diary for the Month of January 2018

Message from our Chaplain Revd Sibanda

We give thanks to God for the year that is passing and look forward to the new year with faith and hope built on the rock of ages who is older than the oldest and richer than the richest. Our theme this year is derived from the Lord’s prayer which is part of Jesus’ sermon on the mountain. Most of us have memorised it from our childhood such that we have not even bothered to look at its meaning to us and the whole of creation. The theme is speaking both to the fellowship and the outside world. With the world almost adapting to a survival of the fittest state of affairs, we need to be prophetic and work for the raising of the standards of genuine prayer, justice, love and peace here on earth as it is in heaven.

Jesus is telling you and me not to be like hypocrites who pray in order to be seen by others or pagans who babble and use too many words when praying to God yet He already knows what we need.

The theme is calling us as individuals, families, groups, committees and organisations to be part of God’s mission and will. But it also calls us to reflect on what exactly is the will of God and come out with ways of distinguishing between the will of the people and the will of God. The heart of prayer is about what God wants and as we pray our audience should be God otherwise it will end up being a performance.

Our hearts were warmed by the wonderful acts that were done by God throughout the year. Our families, friends and neighbours had a smile on their faces due to these wonderful and miraculous acts from above. However, there are some who did not have the best of years in history but above all, Emmanuel God is with us. I therefore welcome you to our days of prayer and fasting asking God to do his will here on earth as it is in heaven.

Remember to:

Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can.
