                                                                          Rev C. Sibanda

God made a covenant with the people of Israel calling them to be a Holy Nation, chosen to bear witness to His steadfast love and by finding delight  in the Law. The covenant was renewed in Jesus Christ our Lord in his  birth, work, death and resurrection. In this new covenant God promises us  new life in Christ. We join together in spirit as generations have met  before us to renew the covenant which bound them and still binds us to God.

Our prayer and fasting theme is: setting our minds on things  above (Colossians 3:1-14). May God be with us always as we journey along in this year looking upon him for breakthroughs, answered prayers,  healing and spiritual growth. Remember to pray for the loved ones,  enemies and then end with your own request.

Reflections of prayer and fasting 2015

Rev Adam Nyawo

Experiencing the fruit of the Spirit:

This is our theme for the 10 days of prayer and fast to share with and encourage you my friends. Christ "longs to see His children reveal a character after His similitude" a character that reveals the presence of the Holy Spirit shown through the fruit of the spirit in our lives. 'Vanofamba mumweya ndivo vana vaMwari'.

Day 1:  Abiding in Christ (John 15:1-17) Experiencing the Fruit of the Spirit
Almighty God we pray that you may teach us how to abide in you. May your Holy Spirit create in the hearts of our families and friends the desire to abide in you. For, Oh Lord apart from you we can do nothing "its not by might nor power.. But by my spirit" Zech 4:6

Day 2:  Love (John 4:7-21) Experiencing the Fruit of the Spirit

We Praise you our God for your unconditional love. We pray that, loving Father, you will give us love for our enemies and those who are persecuting us. We ask that you will give us love in our hearts for the lost.
We pray that our lives and our church will demonstrate God's love to all those around us. Make us truly love you and love your word with all our heart, soul and strength as well as to love our neighbours. Amen
"We love God because He loved us first." (1Jn 4:19)

Day 3:  Joy (Habakkuk 3:17-19) Experiencing the Fruit of the Spirit

We praise you Lord, for our gladness which is a fruit of rightrousness. Father, may your spirit teach us and help us to rejoice in trials. Amen.
"Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say rejoice!"(Phil. 4:40)

Day 4: Peace (John 14: 25-31) Experiencing the Fruit of the Spirit

Lord give us peace that surpasses all understanding. Teach us O God to pursue peace with you and other people. We pray for peace in Zim and the whole world. Amen.
"Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you, not as the world gives do I give you... " John 14:27

Day 5: Long Suffering - Experiencing the Fruit of the Spirit

Lord God, we pray that -as difficult as it may be- teach us how to repay good for evil.
"My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience" James 1:2,3

Day 6: Kindness - Experiencing the Fruit of the Spirit

Has anyone been unkind to you? Please join me in prayer as we ask God to teach us to be kind to that person and others. Our Creator and Redeemer, we ask you to enable us to forgive those who do us wrong. Almight God give us strength to be kind to everyone including our family members and enemies. This we ask in the name of your Son, our Sure Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen
"And be kind to one another , tender hearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you." Eph 4:32

Day 7: Goodness (Romans 12:9-12) - Experiencing the Fruit of the Spirit

We approach you Lord, acknowledging that the source of goodness is in you. In your endless mercy, Father, show us how to manifest goodness toward our family members and brothers and sisters in Christ. In the name of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit we pray. Amen.
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life." Psalm 23:6

Day 8: Faithfulness (Hebrews 11:1-11)  - Experiencing the Fruit of the Spirit
O God, our help in ages past- we pray that you will make us faithful in the small things. We bring before you, even the small things where we need to learn to be faithful. We ask that you will increase our faith, and also that we should not trust in the wisdom of men but in your power. Amen.
“For we walk by faith, not by sight” 2 Cor. 5:7

Day 9: Gentleness (James 3:13-18) - Experiencing the Fruit of the Spirit
Awesome and most gracious God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and also our Father- we honour and glorify your name. Lord, teach us to be gentle. We saw gentleness in your son Jesus Christ in His human form. So Lord, teach us to humble ourselves. Amen.
"The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way." Psalm 25:9

Day 10: Self Control (Matthew 4:1-11) - Experiencing the Fruit of the Spirit

God help us to hate the things of the world and give us love for You and You only. Lord we open up our hearts to tell you about those things that we need to learn to hate.... Everytime that we are faced with temptation, may your Holy Spirit remind us that 'our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.' Amen.
"My Grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." 2 Cor 12:9

It has been a wonderful priviledge for me to minister unto you in prayer for the past ten days, tomorrow the 11th I welcome you all to join (physically or in spirit) in our Big Sunday worship service at the Coventry Methodist Hall (Coventry) as we make a covenant to Walk in the Spirit with our Father.
